COP26 @ Tobacco Merchant’s House

For the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, our offices in Glasgow City Centre (42 Miller Street) will be hosting a series of events related to Scotland’s built environment.

If you’re planning on attending any of the below events, please note that our building is not fully accessible – climbing stairs is required for entry and for moving between floors inside.

2 & 3 November, 12pm – 3pm: SPAB Scotland Live!

Our friends from the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings Scotland will have a pop-up office for visitors to drop in, say hello and chat about sustainability and how traditional buildings can tackle the climate crisis. This is a free event, but we do ask that you register before attending.

3 November, 11am: Energy Saving in Glasgow’s Merchant City

Go on a wee COP26-themed walking tour of Glasgow City Centre! Guide Mark Watson (Historic Environment Scotland & Institute of Historic Building Conservation) will discuss efforts to rehabilitate Merchant City & save the energy embodied in existing buildings. Tickets are £5 – book now!

More than 1/3 of greenhouse gas emissions are related to the construction sector. How?! COP26 is a perfect time to learn!

Pop into our offices to participate in Construction Collage, a collaborative workshop on the topic of how construction can respond to the challenges of climate change. Groups of 4-8 will play together to explore the environmental and social issues of the construction industry. This workshop is for those with an interest in construction sector, as well as construction professionals. Tickets are free, but booking is required.
