Celebrating Black History Month

On Saturday 2 November, the Scottish Civic Trust co-hosted an intergenerational online event with African and Caribbean Elders in Scotland. The event celebrated achievement and resilience through storytelling, marking the final week of Black History Month.

The highlights of the event were 9 young presenters from Scotland, Ghana, Kenya and the Gambia, sharing folktales, poems, and stories about inspirational people from around the world. Participants ranged in age from 8 to 96. After the speakers, there was a Black history quiz where we tested our knowledge of topics like the Bristol Bus Boycott, HMT Empire Windrush, the Wagadou Empire and more.
