Wikipedia Workshop at Stonehaven Library

Learn how to edit Wikipedia, and improve the coverage of Aberdeenshire’s rich heritage!

Have you ever wondered who writes Wikipedia? Ever fancied having a go? Ever thought about having your writing read by thousands of people worldwide?

Join SLIC and the Scottish Civic Trust for this editathon on Saturday, 15th September at the Stonehaven Library, and help to open the door to Aberdeenshire’s buildings for a global audience. In this all-day session you’ll learn how to edit Wikipedia, improving and creating articles about notable buildings in Aberdeenshire that are part of the Doors Open Day festival.

Please bring your own laptop.

We’ve identified a number of Wikipedia articles about notable Aberdeenshire buildings that need to be improved – or that don’t exist, and need to be created! You’ll learn how to edit Wikipedia, and also more about how Wikipedia maintains quality and accuracy.

No prior experience in editing Wikipedia is necessary. The session will be led by experienced Wikipedia trainers and full training will be given.Participants are asked to create a Wikipedia account in advance.
