Past Forward: exhibition saying farewell to Scotland’s Urban Past
Last week staff from the Scottish Civic Trust enjoyed an afternoon jaunt to see Past Forward, an exhibition by Scotland’s Urban Past (SUP), at South Block in Glasgow, which highlights some of the excellent community projects undertaken over the course of SUP’s 5-year project. SCT worked with SUP and LGBT Health & Wellbeing to co-host Queering the Map of Edinburgh as part of LGBT+ History Month last February and the community map created is prominently displayed in the exhibition.

Past Forward also featured the Arbroath Abbey Trail created by the 1,2 History Crew, recipients of last year’s Scottish Heritage Angel Award for Best Contribution to a Heritage Project by Young People

And we really enjoyed the great display design and AR content by our next-door neighbours, Soulis Heritage. The stands mimicked Scottish urban architecture and there were tablets to view augmented reality reconstructions of sites.
Congratulations to all of our friends at SUP for completing a brilliant 5-year project that engaged communities throughout Scotland. The Past Forward exhibition is now closed, but you can view the queer map of Edinburgh in Glasgow’s Doors Open Days Festival Hub at the Garment Factory (10 Montrose St, G1 1RE) from 16th – 22nd September.
